Head of Sales – Industrial Valves

Flowtec, a leading provider of industrial valves and flow control solutions, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Sales to drive sustainable top-line growth and co-lead the company with a shared vision and purpose. The Head of Sales will be responsible for re-establishing and leading the sales organization, including rebuilding the team, developing strategic sales plans, and managing key accounts across both domestic and international markets.

Objectives of the Position

The primary objectives of the Head of Sales are to:

  • Drive sustainable top-line growth by leveraging existing market opportunities and identifying new business areas.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to the company with a unified vision, ensuring alignment across all functions to achieve the company’s business goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Organization and Team Leadership

  • Re-establish the Sales Organization:
  • One of the initial tasks will be to rebuild the sales structure in Spain. This will include rehiring an outside sales professional, along with overseeing the entire sales team to ensure high performance and motivation. The Head of Sales will create an environment conducive to achieving sales targets and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Lead Inside Sales and Customer Service Teams:
  • You will have direct oversight of the inside sales and customer service team, ensuring their processes are optimized to provide the best service to clients. This also involves implementing the best practices in customer service and ensuring seamless communication between teams.

2. Strategic Sales Development and Execution

  • Develop and Implement Sales Strategy:
  • Create and execute a robust sales strategy that spans multiple business areas, including:
  • Intercompany Business: Build and nurture relationships with other business units and partners within the organization to drive internal sales growth.
  • Affiliates and Domestic Market (Iberia): Focus on expanding market share within Spain and Portugal, targeting key sectors such as engineering, procurement, and construction companies (EPCs).
  • Export and Project Business: Identify and pursue export opportunities, developing a strong pipeline for project-based sales both in Europe and globally.
  • Sales Budget Monitoring:
  • Oversee the monthly monitoring and achievement of the sales budget across all sales channels, providing reports to senior management and adjusting the strategy as needed to stay on track with financial goals.

3. Global Engagement and Market Presence

  • Participation in Global Summits and Exhibitions:
  • Represent the company at international summits, conferences, and trade exhibitions, positioning the company as a leading provider in the valve industry. These events will provide opportunities to network, showcase new products, and explore new business partnerships.
  • Business Travel:
  • As part of the global outreach, the role requires approximately 30% travel to meet clients, attend exhibitions, and collaborate with international affiliates.

Required Qualifications and Skills

A. Professional Competence

  • Technical Education/Industry Experience:
  • A background in technical education related to the metal processing or valve industry is essential. Candidates with extensive experience in the valve or industrial component sector will be highly preferred.
  • Sales Expertise in Industrial Components:
  • Proven track record in international sales, specifically in the valves or industrial component sectors, is required. The ideal candidate will understand the technical aspects of valves and be able to communicate these effectively to clients.
  • Economic and Financial Acumen:
  • A solid understanding of economic, financial, and commercial management is necessary to manage budgets, forecast sales, and contribute to the overall profitability of the company.
  • Language Proficiency:
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.

B. Method Competence

  • Business Development:
  • Strong skills in business development, with the ability to identify and capture new opportunities in both established and emerging markets.
  • Sales and Negotiation:
  • Expertise in sales and negotiation techniques, with a focus on building long-term relationships and closing complex deals.
  • IT Proficiency:
  • Competency in using ERP/CRM systems and general IT tools is important for managing customer relationships and sales pipelines efficiently.

  • Social Competence and Communication:
  • The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and an ability to communicate effectively with both customers and internal teams.
