Transport Manager
JOB DUTIES :
• Directing and coordinating activities of the traffic department personnel concerned with documentation and routing of outgoing and incoming freight and reshipment of incoming freight
• Coordinating the activities of traffic assistants engaged in assigning tariff classifications according to type and weight of freight or merchandise; routing and scheduling shipment by air, rail or truck and preparing billings from tariff and classification manuals
• Review documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment
• Investigate shipper or consignee complaints regarding lead times, lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility and prepare the insurance files
• Direct preparation of claims against carrier responsible and corresponds with shipper or consignee to effect settlement
• Schedule shipments to ensure compliance with international traffic laws and regulations and company policies
• Negotiate prices with the forwarders
• Set up, control and report KPI’s and relevant transport information to your superior and our offices in the USA
• Evaluate traffic assistants (as well in Belgium as in the branches abroad).
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :
• Economical degree background with an accent on expedition and/or transport
• Familiar with traffic regulations
• Organized person, time conscious and good performer under stress
• Show negotiator skills
• Willing to take responsibilities
• Supervising experience
• Fluent in English is a must. Knowledge of any other language is an asset
